Leftover Basil? Try this all-purpose basil sauce.

Easy and great for cleaning out fridge.

This recipe is so easy and versatile that you can add any kind of sturdy vegetable on the photo I used carrots and cabbage and combine it with any protein you prefer.

What is Thai basil sauce?

Every Thai restaurant has some kind of Thai basil sauce dish like pad krapao, pad graprao or pad kra pow and this basil sauce is just like that but better!

All-purpose basil sauce

Do you have leftover basil at home? Try this all-purpose basil sauce. 🌿
Is super easy with ingredients you probably have at home. This sauce is great for when you want to clean out your fridge with leftover vegetables like carrots, bell peppers or cabbage. Any sturdy vegetable will do. And pour it on top of some protein of choice.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 Tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 Tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp dark or black soy sauce
  • 1 tsp fish sauce *optional
  • ½ onion, julienne chopped
  • 6 gloves of garlic, chopped
  • 1-2 chilies, chopped *optional *optional
  • 250 ml chicken/mushroom stock, or use water
  • ground white or black pepper , to taste
  • a handfull julienned bell pepper pepper or any other vegetables
  •  basil leaves of any kind

Instructions
 

  • Combine the oyster sauce, soy sauce, dark/black soy sauce and sugar and mix until sugar is dissolved
  • In a sauté pan cook the onion until soft
  • Add garlic and chilies
  • When the garlic turns golden add ¾ your stock or water together with a dash of white pepper
  • Add your basil sauce and vegetables.
  • Finish of with the last ¼ of your stock and your are done.
  • Pour this over fried tofu, chicken or fish and enjoy! ✌🏼
